Relativistic Blackhole Illumination

This project is a Kerr Black Hole renderer that utilizes relativistic ray-tracing to visualize the intricate bending of light around a black hole.

How It Works

The renderer simulates the physics of light near a black hole by following these core steps:

  1. Initialize Photons: Rays of light (photons) are initialized from a virtual camera setup.
  2. Solve Geodesics: The paths of the photons are calculated by solving the geodesic equations using the Kerr Metric and a Runge-Kutta 4th order (RK4) integrator. This simulates how spacetime is warped by the black hole’s mass and angular momentum.
  3. Calculate Color & Intensity: The final appearance of the light accounts for both Gravitational Redshift and the Doppler effect, providing a physically accurate representation of the illumination and distortions.
